Step into a realm where traditional meets contemporary at the “Found in Translation” exhibition curated by textile artist Liz Smith.
With experimentation and curiosity Liz has translated the paintings and sculptures of five local artists into tactile pieces, using the techniques of hand tufting and intricate embroideries.

Each piece in this collaboration blends the worlds of visual and tactile expression and visitors to the gallery are invited to explore the rich textures and vibrant colours of each work.  Liz’s innovative interpretation offers a fresh perspective on the intersection of art and craft, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a multisensory experience.
Invited Artists: Tanya Blong, Mike Davison, Catrina Lloyd, Mandy Jakich, Jeff Thomson

Make flowers from recycled plastic: FREE workshop

Led by jewellery artist Joss Hong, join us to make flowers from recycled plastic bottles. These will decorate a large wooden frame made by a Muriwai local. The frame will be erected in a public area in Muriwai for people to pose behind for photos.

This will hopefully remind the public of Muriwai’s plight, and help raise funds for The Muriwai Community Recovery Charitable Trust https://mcrct.org.nz/

Muriwai Love Letters

Muriwai locals!

Help us celebrate all the things we love! Join us for the Love Letters event at the Surf Club this Sunday, 5 March 10am-4pm. It’s free and will be lots of fun.

Help us build a wall of love letters, or do some rock painting to pop in the Surf Club garden. Come to the Locals Lounge for a free cuppa, some baking, a catch-up with some mates, plus create your love message.

Simply draw or write a love letter - to someone, a thing, a place or an experience. Anyone can leave a note (love letter). "I love my dog Coco", "I love walking on the beach", "I love Chocolate cake". Once done, peg your letter on the line.

All materials will be provided and all ages are welcome. Due to the cordons, unfortunately this event can only be attended by Muriwai residents.
Access by the tennis courts on Coast Road.

You’re also welcome to contribute or bring along some home baking, or if you're a local let us know if you'd like to help out on the day.
