Same But Different: We Have Changed Our Name

Established in 2018 by Joss Hong and Judy Stokes (part of the North West Arts Charitable Trust), our group of artists has become more than open studios and art trails.

A huge thanks to you as a sponsor for supporting our workshops, community events such as love letters and post cyclone events, Artweek Auckland participation, art degustations, hands-on sand sculpture and drawing sessions, and exhibitions in our local area and wider Auckland (Grey Lynn, Parnell, Orakei, Kumeu).

Our expanded art trail now includes local organisations such as the Muriwai Golf Club, Good From Scratch, The Muriwai Deli, Kula Wellness Centre and invited artists including Jeff Thomson, Cherise Thomson, Stephanie Robinson and Mike Davison. Our aim is to continue to provide these events and more.

As a collective, we are about making art more accessible, and providing a supportive and nurturing environment for artists to create and help grow. It has been wonderful to see artists support each other, build confidence and evolve their practice.

Many of our members are full time artists and permanently exhibit in some of NZ’s leading galleries and art shows. Members of the collective include Catrina Lloyd, Emma Farry, Joss Hong, Judy Stokes (honorary founding member), Karuna Douglas, Laetitia Decan, Lily Weeds, Liz Smith, Mandy Jakich, Mette Hay, Pat Henley, Tanya Blong and Todd Douglas.

Media includes ceramics, jewellery, painting, textiles, mixed-media, creative writing, sculpture and more.
